I think I\u2019ve always really liked both science and art, and I\u2019m not sure I\u2019ve met a young kid who actively hated either one. But I also love reading about astronomy and outer space, so occasionally I\u2019ll make something using free NASA data and maps.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3325\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/PLANET_EARTH_CONROL_DECK.gif\" alt=\"Eleanor Lutz\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1080\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3327\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/HUMAN_MUSCLE.gif\" alt=\"HUMAN_MUSCLE\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1351\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3328\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/42_BUTTERFLIES.gif\" alt=\"Eleanor Lutz\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1440\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>What materials do you use to create your artworks?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Most of my artwork is digital, and I use several different kinds of software. Usually I make my designs in either Photoshop or Illustrator. But I\u2019ve also worked on projects that use other software, like Chimera (for modeling 3D illustrations of viruses) and Python (for making animated patterns using equations). Recently I\u2019ve been trying to branch out and try more design programs that I haven\u2019t worked with before.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3324\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/FLIGHT.gif\" alt=\"FLIGHT\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1218\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Artwork\/Exhibition you are most proud of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I think my favorite design this year is the <a href=\"http:\/\/tabletopwhale.com\/2016\/04\/11\/virus-trading-cards.html\" target=\"_blank\">Virus Trading Cards<\/a>. For this project I wanted to showcase important virus species to share the variety and uniqueness of viral diseases. I picked three human diseases that I thought would be particularly relevant &#8211; HPV, Adenovirus (which causes the common cold), and Dengue (a close relative of the Zika virus). I also included Chlorella Virus (which infects a non-human host) to add more diversity to the trading card collection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/03-25-16-2.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1700 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/03-25-16-2.gif\" alt=\"03-25-16-2\" width=\"538\" height=\"714\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/03-25-16.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1699 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/artthescience.com\/magazine\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/03-25-16.gif\" alt=\"03-25-16\" width=\"538\" height=\"714\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Which scientists and\/or artists inspire and\/or have influenced you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I love <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fossilmuseum.net\/fossil-art\/haeckel-scientific-illustration.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Ernst Haeckel<\/a>\u2019s biological illustrations. I\u2019m particularly a fan of naturalists who also worked as artists (like Haeckel), illustrating the different species they encountered while working on research.
